Illegal Immigrants: One thing must be made clear: illegal immigrants are illegal, and as such should not expect anything they ask for to be considered. However, the government shouldn't be so apathetic as to grant their requests. This country is compromised of legal immigrants. Such lax regulations/penalizations spit in the faces of those who came here legally, assimilated, and became American citizens. They didn't deny their culture, nor shun America’s; they blended both together.
Having six million illegal immigrants in America is deeply depressing. It is unforgivable that for over thirty years immigration laws have been broken, with encouragement from the government which wrote those very laws. Furthermore, any who enforced the immigration laws would be punished. Why was this allowed? One reason is business economics: immigrants, particularly Mexicans, work for almost nothing, while employers wouldn’t have to pay for their social security, pension, health care, or workers' compensation, thus pulling a fast one on the IRS. Most illegal immigrants are Mexican or Hispanic, and not Blue-Black. Since most Hispanics are Catholic, the Catholic Church tries its’ hardest to safeguard their fellow believers; any conflicting laws are inconsequential. Meanwhile, Hispanics and Mexicans rarely marry other ethnicities; this brings great comfort to racist Whites. This leaves the taxpayers, especially apathetic middle class people, to pick up the tab for emergency medical care, food stamps, and all the benefits illegal immigrants are not entitled to. Lastly, this helps America maintain a relatively cordial relationship with the inept and corrupted Mexican government. Americas have to wake up, open their eyes, and use the brain the good Lord gave them.
A fine should be imposed on all current illegal immigrants, the amount of which should be decided by the House and the Senate. Illegal immigrants should be given the option of applying to stay if they are employed, have no criminal record, and are not in receipt of any public benefits. If employed, they must provide the name and address of their employer. If they satisfy all requirements, then they should be allowed to stay for five years (starting on the date they complete an application), provided they do not break any laws. During the five year period, immigrants should not be entitled to any assistance except medical, which the federal government should be financially responsible for. After the five year period, they would become legal immigrants. Any immigrants that do not meet any of the above criteria must be deported. The United States can not longer support them.
All employers who hire illegal immigrants must face a stiff fine, pay all retroactive benefits for the hired immigrants, and pay the current minimum wage. However, employers need not pay for social security until after the aforementioned five year period. Any politician who encourages discretion concerning the true status of an immigrant should be impeached, fined, and jailed. The Federal government should then cease funding to offending counties, cities, states, etc. No politician is above the law, nor has the right to discourage others from following it. America is a country based on laws, and yet its’ own lawmakers are not only breaking them, but encouraging others to do so. Such hypocritical times call for harsh judgment.
Fences must be put along the country’s borders; very high, deep, inner fences made of steel and brick, with bulletproof windows armed with proper military weaponry. Also, a strong outer fence must be built, just as deep, but not as high as the inner fence. The area in between the two fences should be patrolled by border patrol accompanied by trained dogs for detecting drugs/bombs. This calls for strong military presence due to the military arsenal that must be used.
If the United States used a sales tax system where every 15 cents on the dollar would go to the Federal government, IRS workers could be put to use in Immigrations. These tough decisions should have been made long ago. It’s in the interest of the American people to implement these policies and changes. Neither illegal immigrants nor corrupt politicians are better than one another. Lesser of two evils means nothing; evil is still evil.
