The Palestinians have spoken: Be careful what you wish for; you just might get it. America called for a free and democratic election amongst the Palestinians, and Palestine obliged, although the result was unexpected; the majority voted for Hamas. Be that as it may, the proper response is to embrace this outcome. In this time of rampant animosity, America cannot afford to lose more credibility amongst the Islamic community, or the world in general. Support should not stop simply because the ideals America stands for weren’t upheld in another nation. To voice disapproval of an election America suggested in the first place would be hypocritical, and a devastating blow to its’ credibility and message. “We insisted you hold a democratic election, but don’t approve of it because we don’t like who you chose,” simply won’t do.
Since Hamas was chosen, Israel’s borders must be secured. Sturdy walls should be erected; a high inner wall with a lower outer wall around it. Manned towers should line the inner wall, and there should be enough space between the walls for military armaments, canine units and border patrols. Israel must put its’ intelligence agency on full alert, and use any resources they have in order to defend themselves against whatever threat may come. Why should such drastic measures be taken? It is because ever since the Clinton administration, Israel (especially Ariel Sharon) has tried to arrive at a nonviolent resolution with the Palestinians. The recent election’s results prove that Palestinians are not ready or willing to accept such an idea. Israel gave back land that was mutually agreed upon, while being willing to share Jerusalem; such is not enough for the Palestinians. It has become evident that coexistence is not an option. The world must come to terms with this and do what is necessary to protect Israel; further talks with the Palestinians will do no good. These fanatical extremists must be tracked down and eliminated; they are a disease that must be cured for the good of society. With peace yielding inconsequential results, force must be applied. This is one of those situations where fire must be fought with fire; thousands of hateful people must die in order to protect millions of innocents.
Before any of this is done, fanaticism must be abolished worldwide. Here in the United States, Reverends Jerry Falwell and Pat Robertson must be silenced, or at the very least ignored. 9/11 being blamed on homosexuality, while Ariel Sharon’s stroke is blamed on God punishing his administration, is a blasphemous manipulation of the public. However, not a single high ranking politician or clergyman denounced these frauds. Jesus is the prince of peace, and Ariel Sharon tried to embrace what Jesus stands for, which is more than could be said for the above mentioned Reverends. With Islamic fanatics, their stance is solid, unwavering, and clear. Hate mongers like the Jerry Falwell and Pat Robertson warp the context of whatever religious doctrine they want, in order to accomplish their various goals, when in reality they have no true faith or devotion to anyone but themselves. Any tragedy they can get their hands on will be used to get attention by making outrageous claims in the name of God. America as a nation has the audacity to tell Islamic people to rein in their fanatics, while their own zealots are nurtured. These men have poisoned the minds, souls, and spirits of individuals for generations, and in so doing are no better than terrorists.
Any politician that embraces extremists of any variety cannot expect to have credibility in regards to the war on terrorism. The fanatical neo-conservatives are what got America in the current mess, and by the looks of it, no lesson has been learned. God bless Israel, Ariel Sharon, America, and Earth.
